I should have added, I also love/gush Misty Mountain products myself. I bought an original MM 'chalkpot' almost 20 years ago, still solid.

Yeah, me too. I have one of the family size chalk pots. I only wish they still made those. I believe they have switched away from the ballistic material to the original style of pads made from the cordura fabric. Happy Motoring, and your welcome for my reviving an old thread. I agree, the fellow has surely purchased a pad by now. Should have checked the date of the OP's post.

I've had a 3x4 Misty Mountain Highlander crash pad for years. I think it's better to just make friends with other boulderers that have pads, rather than getting a mondo pad.

If you are going to begin bouldering - the FIRST pad you may need is a heavy flow maxi.

I don't boulder with a pad, I don't want to be immediately identified as a climber with many of the places that I frequent, and I hate carrying the fucking things around. Did I mention they also cause hideous erosion. But on another note, I used to use one, the Mad Rock Mad Pad, it's pretty damn solid for the price that it goes at. I used it for a year, fell a shitload, and it held up pretty nicely. I have fallen onto Organic pads and they were pretty cush.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
