Pardon me if this topic has been covered before, but I couldn't find any info on it by searching. I saw a guy who has an iPod Touch who seemed to have a ton of Mountain Project route descriptions, complete with photos and comments on his iPod Touch. It seemed like he had all of Eldo and Boulder Canyon and more right at his fingertips. I forgot to ask him how he managed to do that. Is this something that is easily done? Can someone enlighten me on how to go about doing it? - thanks

Ok, that looks pretty sweet and easy, but what would really be cool is if a mini guide could be printed for the whole area in one fell swoop instead of having to drill down into specific areas of rock with only a few routes for each. I don't see that feature at the top level of climbing areas on Mountain Project. For example, I'd like to print to PDF the entire area of City of Rocks with just a few clicks. Since you're an administrator, how about bringing that up to the site admin gods? That would be the ticket! Thanks.

Paging Nick and Andy, paging Nick and Andy... Ok Chris, not sure what you mean by "it's certainly a work in progress", but my hope is that it actually will be a work in progress and can come to fruition. Don't mean to be pushy, but this would indeed be a great feature and I hope that it gets put on the MP website To Do list. Thanks for your help.

An easy way do to this on an Android device is an app called Read It Later. Once you install the app on your phone and computer you navigate to a page that you want on your phone and hit the Read It Later button. A copy of the page is sent to your phone and is available when you do not have phone/data connection. I believe the app is available for ipod, iphone, ipad as well.

Mac users in Safari (perhaps other browsers) have the choice to create PDF in the print dialogue box. Save the mini guide as a PDF and email it to yourself and or others. Then open and save it on your smart phone, iPad, Xoom. The end of the guidebook as we know it? The bigger question, perhaps the elephant in the room, is when are we going to see APPS for mountain project info? Given this has been populated as an open source project, who will do this and return the profit to the community. A proposal would be to finance the purchase and protection of climbing assets for perpetuity. Ongoing upkeep and improvement, emergency coverage, extrication coverage, programs for injury recovery, programs for youth at risk, city kids, grants... The possibilities. Or a few people could get some really nice stuff, cars, homes, trips and we will all likely forget their names except in contempt. As Joe Stummer would say :"The future is unwritten" . Ghandi would say "Be the change you wish to see in the world".

I'd have no problem paying for the App if it was done correctly, like having the ability to download searchable information on entire areas. Again, I'd like a Maxi-Guide feature. The mini-guides are nice, but painful to find and print them all individually and then make one giant PDF out of them. I heard the new JT guide is available as an App. It does seem to be the way of the future. i guess you could have all of your guide books in one iPod, or tablet computer. The only down side to all of this for me is that I swore I'd never become a smart phone or PDA slave but I don't see how to get MP info any other way when I'm away from my computer, so I guess my days of relative freedom from gadgets are numbered :).
