Been there, done that, got that band-aid. Got lucky. The drunk hit me in the leg when I was crossing an intersection on foot and he blew through a light. Got lucky, they originally thought my neck was broken but had just messed up my arm. Had a great doc and PT (and the PT was cute also).

that was hard to watch. I think the moral is not only to not drink and drive, but also to drive carefully at all times. My dad always told me that driving should not be fun, it should be exhausting because I should be %100 vigilant at all times.

I've known people killed by drunk drivers and I've been first responder on an accident involving a drunk driver - memories I wish I never had. It's good to keep the word out there, especially going into the holiday season, so thanks Jim for posting.

Remember too that "drowsy" driving is not very different than drunk driving. Judgement is off, reaction time is off... estimates in the UK and Australia (who track this better than the US) is that 25-30% of ALL auto accidents involve a sleep deprived driver. I was guilty of it. 10 yrs ago was driving a big U-Haul late at night after helping a friend move all day... was exhausted from the move, had that 1000-yard stare, head nodding... didn't snap-to until the sound of a car horn woke me as I blasted the truck thru a red light. Somehow missed everybody. Wish I didn't have that memory either, but I was lucky that night (as were the people I could have killed), and it's changed my behavior. Haven't driven while tired once since - meaning I've parked my car in some of shittiest spots in the country to get that needed shut-eye. So if you catch yourself yawning a bunch, or need the radio blasted full tilt to a song you can sing along with in order to stay awake, or windows wide open in the middle of December... pull over, zonk out for a few, and come home late and alive.

It weird that people need an add to tell them not to drink and drive.

I was driving north down Carr today from Old Towne Arvada....on a 30 mph road because I hate driving on the adjacent 25 mph one. Saw a car going really slow in front of me, she was going literally 18 mph in the 30 zone (which drives me bonkers).

I pull up next to her at the next light, expecting some blue hair with a light foot. Ended up being a middle-aged woman who was.........

reading.

I tried to give her the stink eye but she never looked up. Apparently she was too engrossed in her novel.

yikes! Should have called her in...I assume it was a 30mph zone because there are plenty of people around to hit.

Good song and a good message. I could have done without the violent images, since after loosing a couple friends (and nearly a few more) I know the lesson. yourmileagemayvary

Fair enough. But there was no correlation between drinking and driving and the accidents in this video despite the op's title. I don't support drinking and driving but what most people don't know is the fatigued driving is the number one killer on the road dwarfing drinking and driving. Distracted driving is number 2 (ie cell phones and texting) . But since Colorado made texting illegal, texting related accidents have gone up.
