What is the most classic, moderate trade route you have retrobolted?

Yes it is, and I dont agree with it. BUT it is, what it is.

Who did the FA of Western Grebe?
Who is adding bolts to it now 25 years later?

This type of activity does not look good even if the FA is the one doing it. It sets a bad precedent and is confusing as hell.

I agree. Something still smells fishy here. It would be nice to hear the details from Triz. Did the FA contact you, or did you search out the FA? Just guess I'm suspicious of 3rd hand info that doesn't quite jive.

For Western Grebe, the other member of the first ascent party was Kirsten Davis, Bills ex girl friend. Don't know who led what, but it's likely that Bill did most if not all of the leading. I think it should be the leaders call. I was a regular partner with Bill and I can assure you that he would have hated the idea of new bolts.

In an attempt to tally new or disputed bolts and other miscellaneous grievances, I'm compiling a list on utahclimbers.com to avoid advertising our internal struggles to the world.

climbing is still a silly game with silly rules established by silly old people.
not disparaging those rules. Frankly I like them and I feel that we must make sure to stay (get?) into the good graces of land managers and agencies. We enjoy a lot of privileges that we do not want to jeopardize.

Next time, lets try to not immediately jump to conclusions. Sure, there is something to be said for reputations, but none of us want to be known as the person who strung the wrong guy up in the tree. Maybe this place can calm down a bit now that everyone has their foot in their mouth.

feel free to buy me dinner and we can sit down and chat if you disagree with me. :)

Quit acting like the the condescending queen of compromise and someone might feel charitable enough to buy you a doughnut.
There are a number of trees out there awaiting to be strung with the right person. Would you be willing to discuss that or you're just gonna play devil's advocate and ignore the big picture?

Also, wrong thread you enormous jong, this discussion has been moved.
