I had to leave a bunch of gear on the 4th pitch as well as a rope on the eyebolt on Red Ledge after a fall that broke my heel on Sunday, Oct. 17. If anyone retrieves it and would like to get it back to me, please email me and we can figure out a way to exchange it. My email is ssmith@namanhowell.com. Thanks. Stuart

A friend of mine was climbing the route that day I think. He might comment on the thread at some point, but I'll mention it.
We were able to lower and rap down to the start of the climb on our own, but the Rescue Group carried me down in a litter. I couldn't face walking down all that talus and scree. RMRG was great. Probably 20 rescuers on scene within an hour. Broke heel into 5 pieces and also broke of side of ankle. Thanks to everybody for helping out on finding the gear.

Stuart, since you managed to get down unassisted it's unlikely RMR has your gear unless you requested them to get it. They did however clean my anchor and return our rope when they helped out my friend who dislocated her shoulder.

Stuart: We must have been climbing pretty near the same time, as I was on Rewritten Sunday morning (first party up, actually.) I regret that I was not in a position to help you, or to retrieve your gear. Best of luck in your recovery from the broken heel.
I went up after Stuart's gear on Tuesday and found everything above the Red Ledge-- 7 cams, 3 tricams, a nut (which held the fall) and associated webbing.
Missing was the fixed rope and perhaps one cam Stuart said they left at the Red Ledge bolts. The Park Service hasnt gotten back to me about whether they cleaned the rope nor has RMR.
So, anyway, it was a pretty good recovery but it would be nice to get the rope back. If anyone has it, it seems a little odd to think of gear in an accident as booty. Just drop it off at the BRC and it will get back to him. Thanks, Johnb
