Hey All--Looking for some intel on the approach and water conditions for Lone Peak. Looking to go next week and could really use some beta on the approach and if water is still available there.--Fast Eddie

take the jacobs ladder trail for sure. it is faster than the alpine approach but lacks the water along the way, but just start early in the morning or late in the evening and you'll be fine. the snow patches in the cirque are still fairly low so when the streams are not flowing you can collect snow and melt it, but later in the day you can just go to the stream and collect as much as you want. if you camp lower down below the cirque meadow amongst the granite domes there is a stream that flows all day on the southern edge of that area as well.

hope that helps

Greg,

Thanks for your comments. I love it that I see less and less people on the Alpine trail! I love the solitude.

For all else,

The alpine trial is longer, harder, and easier to get lost on. Who cares if you have water it sucks! Sorry If you were considering it Eddie. If you are going to hike the alpine trail regardless of what people say, PM me and I will get you some helpful info.

Thanks for the beta guys. Did the Jacobs Ladder approach and it is an ass kicker. Water in the cirque was plentiful and the climbs were simply awesome.--FE

Climbed Triple Overhangs on Monday. There was plenty of water in the alpine below the actual cirque via the Jacob's Ladder approach-we carried way too much. Really pleasant up there.

Anyone been up lately? I Can't imagine there is still water, but here's hoping...Headed up there this weekend as long as the weather forecast changes a bit...

There should still be a patch of snow below the Summit Wall; despite this Sunday's storm, it should last for another week or two. S
