Cape Cod climbers?

May be moving to the Cape soon and want to connect with the "climbing community" (if there is such a thing). Anybody out there?

Do you know what part of the cape? That can make a BIG difference for the availability of climbing within a reasonable drive.

Also, what kind of climbing do you like to do?

Hey man, When I go up to NH with Heidi, I'll make sure to let you know and we'll make trips to climb while she visits her friends. Probably no different that driving to the red or new from columbus, right?

We will probably end up mid-cape, somewhere between Hyannis and Eastham. Big area I know but the wife has family in Eastham and I'll probably be working in the Hyannis area if things go right. I'm used to a 4 hour drive to the NRG or RRG so actually look forward to being "close" to New Hampshire etc. Ice climbing for me involves a 12-14 hour (each way) drive right now! I pretty much do it all ice, sport, multi pitch trad,alpine, mountaineering everything but bouldering I guess, but may have to take that up!

Yeah Price that would work great! You've been to Rumney right? Hard as frick sport routes there.

I'm a long time climber originally from the Orleans but now live in W. Mass. I do get back often though and have explored a lot of what's down there. By far the best boulder and rock quality I've found is a huge, by Cape standards, granite erratic in the shore of Cliff Pond in Nickerson State Park. Only real one worth climbing in the park but definately worth it if water levels aren't too high. I've done about a dozen problems and variations V2-V10. There a decent boulder near the town tennis courts in Orleans across from the police station. I've put up a handful of problems in the V0-V7 range. Not super high quality but easy to get to and some decent features. Doane Rock in Eastham is OK. Tall but not super quality. Devils Rock at the end of Tonset Road in Orleans is also impressive and big. Climbable at low tide but watch out for the barnacles, seagull shit and crumbly rock quality. Worth a visit though if your a climber. Hockenum Rock in Dennis is also good but I like the others better. Years ago someone also epoxied a whole bunch of rocks behind the building to the left of the Orleans Bowling Ally. I doubt its allowed anymore but I've been back a couple times for a quick session without incident. I'd keep a low profile. Email me if and when you finally get down to the Cape. Always keen to climb with others when I visit.

Dude, you're like 3 hours from Rumney and Pawtuckaway is even closer. If sport or bouldering ain't your thing, another hour will get you up to Whitehorse/Cathedral and Cannon. In Maine, you got Acadia and the Shagg crag which can't be too far either. Also, if you can tear the beta out of the locals who cling to their "secret" (meaning only if your part of the "in" crowd) crags like a frightened mother holding a child, Vermont has a ton of great climbing as well. All of which should be within 4 hours or so of the Cape. Plus, if you're used to 12 hour approach drives, then the Gunks is certainly within range.

Relocating from San Diego to Providence, RI in two weeks. I'm looking to meet climbers, too. Shoot me a PM and lets hook up for trip to NH sometime in late May or early June.

I am in the same boat, here in the Cape for the summer and I am already missing the close proximity to Rumney, P-Way and Western Mass(I got to shool in Boston). I heard a rumor about boulders in Falmouth but haven't checked it out yet. Also there are rumors of boulders off some of the bike trails in the town I am staying in, Sandwich. If anyway is interested in investigating any of these leads, I am down. Also, a sure bet is Lincoln Woods for bouldering.

Unless they have firmed up, the Falmouth stuff is pretty soft. Westport has some climbing but is kinda out of the way. There is quite a bit in RI in addition to the Woods- Newport, Acadia management area, etc...
