Are there any locals who climb at high altitudes? Any expeditions leaving from AZ in 2010? Please PM me, I have questions! Thanks.

David, I know several people around tucson who have a good amount of experience at altitudes that can only be found outside the states. Last winter I did an expedition down to Aconcagua (~23,000) and am always looking for more partners interested in doing more of this type of thing. These type of climbers are somewhat hard to find, in Tucson, in my experience... Hope that helps a bit and feel free to contact me and we can talk more.

Myself (ok, I'm in Flagstaff) I am always looking for good partners but for the things I would like to do I want someone I know really well.

Things on my plate are

In Peru:
Peruvian Route on Cayesh (5719m: ED1: 95deg ice, 5.10): stromed off it in 2001
North Face of Huscaran Norte (6655m ED2: 5.8, A2, 85deg snow): same as above
Chacaraju (6113m ED2)

In Nepal:
A trekking peak: Kasum Kangaru North Face (ED2: 6370m): 6000ft face from 45-85degrees

If it looks good drop me a line and I'd like to climb extensively with he person before attempting any of these things.

Hi David,
I've had a fair amount of experience with technical mountaineering (40+ yrs) and started the Mountaineering Committee of the Arizona Mountaineering Club. My own life circumstances didn't lend themselves to the major ranges of the world, but I've climbed extensively in North America and Europe. Although probably beyond (age) major high altitude stuff myself, I have built up a large network of AZ climbers with a mountaineering bent. Many of my friends have climbed at least Aconcagua, Denali, the Mexican volcanos, and in Peru, Bolivia, and Nepal. If you'd like to PM me, I'd be happy to share some additional information about high altitude climbers across AZ, many of whom could be interested in finding the "right partner". No promises, but happy to help.
Erik

We head to the top of Mt. Lemmon from Lebuzz Sat. Sun. Tues. and Thursdays in the summer. That's an alpine start right?

Truth, once past windy point you become hardcore alpine.

I agree with Mike. Besides if yall are heading up from Le Buzz to the summit crags in a single push that is defiantly alpine style. I've tried a couple of times but have got shut down...
