Last week on Thursday, August 6 I had to leave a rope rigged to a tree near the top of the gully to the left of Batman and Robin, if you find this rope can you please contact me through the site? We were caught up there after dark and could not find out way down and had to use a full rope length to make it to the ground. I can pay you shipping to get it back to me. I am also not sure if the rope is even good anymore as it got a lot of tree sap on it. Anybody have any idea how sap my affect a rope?

Treesap (pine?) can be washed off; there's nothing in it in sufficient concentrations that would compromise the integrity of the rope. It's mostly just water and sugars. (If you're really worried about it, contact the manufacturer of the rope.) Tree sap just makes the rope inconveniently/annoyingly sticky. It can attract more dirt, thereby accelerating wear, but honestly I'd be more worried about its long-term exposure to the elements, depending on how long it hangs there. g'luck! Cheers, jc

So far it's only been there a few days unless somebody else has already claimed it, easily done if you have just one rope since you would be able to descent with both and just pull it. Still bummed I had to leave the rope behind since it was pretty new. But at least I still have my life :) That was most definitely not a "descent" gully.

I quit trusting those two with any of my gear! You'd think they would have enough between the two of them and be able to get it back to you ;- ) OTOH, I always expect a $#!^show every time I'm anywhere near their pinnacle.

Good grief... Charlie foxtrot if i ever saw one.
Edit:: okay, i think i get this now. two followers per line, the upper of which tied in upstream from the 2nd. I can honestly say, i've never had to witness anything like this in real life. Now i'm just trying to imagine the force generated if one follower falling caused the other three to come off. Maybe there should be some restriction against who can purchase climbing gear. There's a reason you don't see lawn darts on the shelf at Walmart anymore. OTOH, this group might be equally dangerous operating a ketchup dispenser.

I was up there on Saturday, didn't go down the left side....there is a walk off to the right. I looked over into the left gully but didn't see any rope..... But wasn't looking for one either......

Opps, correction. The rope was to the gully to the right of Batman and Robin. We did try walking off to the right but didn't even see a way down, but perhaps we were starting to get into "panic" mode because night was falling.
