My friend and I are planning on taking a trip to Rumney for about a month, we will probably go to other areas too, but what are the best places to camp around Rumney and how much does it cost.

Thanks for the help,
Owen

there is a really good campground across the street from the main parking lot there. If memory serves me right, its $7 a night. i usually call ahead, but don't know if its a requirement. its pretty barebones camping, but there is a water spigot and a (very) clean porta-potty. this assumes of course that your tent camping. Don't think they allow RV's

8 a night per person.. stop up at the house first and sign in with them. They have a great door bell. it's called 3 barking labs ;) If you are going to be coming in late then call ahead

Don't know if this helps but about 15 minutes (or so) up the road past the general store, past stinson lake till the road turns to dirt and you pass a waterfall on your left you used to be able to camp for free. Maybe FS land or Nat. Forest, but either way been stopped by rangers there and they said that as long as we weren't terrorists then all was well. This was in '01, so I don't know if it is current. But then you could find a pull off walk into the woods and set up a camp that you could leave up. And it was free.

It still turns into public property past Stinson Lake. A friend and myself camped there in may. We didn't have any problems with the park service either, but it was mid-week.

If you can find a few more people, there is an RV park right outside of Rumney (like 5 min by car) that costs 25 a plot, if you get five people that is only $5 a nite. They have water, showers, and a bathroom, so I thought that $5 was well worth it. Of course there are some RV's around, but it was the cheapest thing that we could find without going into the woods. Good luck!
