Red Rocks Weather

I am looking to get some local beta on the climbing conditions in Red Rocks as this current weather system unfolds.

I am on top of the webcams and NOAA, but some real-world reports would be awesome.

We are looking at climbing this Friday-Monday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's snowing in Vegas as we speak, so the canyons in Red Rock are most likely getting dumped on. As far as climbing, I doubt if it'll melt much by this weekend; which could be a pain, especially if descending gullies on long multi-pitches. Watch your footing on the hard to see black ice patches.

Also, it's supposed to rain on Thursday. Between this snow and then rain the sandstone will be fairly saturated which can make it quite brittle.

Yikes that looks friggin awful.

Unrelated question but...Are dogs allowed inside the scenic loop?
I was there last winter but can't remember seeing any dogs around the sport climbs?

Please omit your "Dogs should always stay at home comments",
or the obligatory "Dogs ruin the crags....etc,etc"
just trying to figure out whether Frank can come too!

Dogs are allowed in red rock. Just please, pick up their poop around the crag.

Enjoy.

Last year we had notable accumulations of snow on the escarpment that lingered for about two months. Maybe this year will be even better?

Fantastic Photo Rockatrei!!!!

I have a nice assortment of photos from last year's snow but this one is quite impressive.

Thanks for the beautiful, and saddening updates.

Hopefully rain today will wash away the snow at the first and second pullouts.

Please keep them coming!

3:22 PM snowing big wet flakes near Flamingo and Eastern. Elevation about 2087 ft. Freezing at ground level. Talked to business at Russel and Decatur on west side at noon. Not that much higher elevation. He said blizzard. Guess that's blizzard for Southern Nevada. I 15 South over Mountain Summit between Primm and Baker temporarily closed.

Say it does become sunny after Christmas, what would be some good multi-pitch routes to do in the sun? Range: 5.6-5.10. I'm open.
How long should one wait to start climbing after rain or snow like it has been?
