Ice conditions in Vail or RMNP

I just wanted to start a running discussion on ice conditions for the boulder area and beyond. We've got updates on Officers Gulch, but I have no idea what Vail or RMNP look like at all for any ice conditions on any routes. Thanks for positive and useful contributions.

I'd like to have some info on this too!!! Especially how the ice looks on some of the mixed lines in the Desi Ampitheater. Cannot wait till it's getting fat. Some info on Loch Vale would also be great... how does Blade Runner look?

Since ice conditions are temporary and you really just need the latest, why not use the conditions report on the home page? Isn't that really what it is for? I think if everyone starts doing these individual threads, it takes away from the condition reports that really should go on the current conditions. check it out...right on the home page...

There has been a thread on Conditions and on the Forum (RMNP Conditions etc) that has been running for a month or so.

I will have my ice conditions page up and runnning no later than this thursday and that usually has up-to-date conditions as people relate it to me or I find out first hand. The website is jackrobertsclimbing.com.

There is also another site coiceconditions.com which is based in Redstone, Carbondale, CO. area

Vince Anderson's site, skywardmountaineering.com is also an excellent site. He's based in Ridgway, CO and when he isn't putting up hard FAs in the Himalaya and at home where he belongs, his site is a great resource.

Eli Helmouth site, climbinglife.com is a great site for conditions in RMNP.

So, having individual threads on mtnprjt is sort of a waste of time when all these other resources are available.

For Front Range conditions usally the conditions thread on mountainproject is pretty accurate.

Let's hope the conditions improve 'cause they ain't that great right now.

Be safe out there.

Well if people actually took the time to do that, then yes, it would be useful. However, if you look at most of them, there are no updates over the past 6 years! It's easier for people to see the info on the main MP page and chime in there. One stop shopping so to speak.

There are a lot of people that are/were unaware of your other resources, myself included, until now.

That's why I started one, where info could be consolidated, easily found by those interested, instead of searching each route, or area page and hoping that someone might have put an update there.

O.K., I've asked admin to delete my conditions report thread. Sorry to have wasted y'alls time!

I was hoping your thread would stick around. It is nice to have all the info in one spot. I was thinking it would have been nice to have your thread pasted to be the first thing in the ice forum.

I think all the resources that Jack mentioned are great and thanks to guys like Jack for putting the time and effort into their sites. I do like the running condition reports on here though because some times you can get better beta or more recent info. It is annoying seeing a bunch of different threads on ice reports in Colorado.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
