Does Pueblo really have no climbers represented here?

I find it hard to believe that the long time home of the great John Gill among many other older but well traveled climbers has no representatives here. I did a partner search for the area since I'll be down there half the week for the next couple years and no one ever registered for either Pueblo or Canon City much to my surprise. Is it possible they are even more reclusive than many on Colo Spgs?

I know one guy named Mike who is a fireman in Pueblo that climbs. That's all I know.

Ben Hobgood's brother Josh lives in Pueblo and he climbs.

Joshua . . . you already have sole possession of the much coveted Pirate's Booty . . . what more do you want out of life?

There are a few I know about.
I've run into John and a few others
down in the little owl (often in the evening when it
cools off) However I've never heard of a real cohesive
climbing "community" there, but I could be wrong.
I don't even think there is a climbing store in p-town.

Thanks, If anyone else knows of areas that climbers in Pueblo hang out I'd appreciate it. There are the CSU guys but their experience level is minimal and I don't really feel like going through the testing/will you drop me phase. I'll check out the Little Owl and see if I run into some people.

There used to be a small but well equipped shop down n Union or Main right next to the tracks. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I hope he is still in business.

When I lived there I thought there would be more climbers too. Shelf is about a little over an hour or so away and it seems like there has been a flurry of development in the Whet Mountains within 30 south of Canon City.

There seems like there could be a lot of new routing f of 96 West of Pueblo.

Pueblo is also a good jumping off point for the Lower Sangre De Cristos like the Crestones.

We enjoyed living in Pueblo. The cost of living is low, the economy is stable. Its a very nice city when you get away from the interstate. It has several very nice parks and an awesome Disc Golf course.

Hey Julian I know you used to do some stuff down there but do you get down there much anymore. I was thinking I'd just avoid shelf all togather and explore the canyons and boulder possibilities.

Ya know, it's just about time to go down and visit Little Owl... the Wets are really cool when the leaves start to turn. But don't give up on Shelf Road either... They all serve a higher purpose (depending on how cold/warm it is and the aspect of the sun). Take some time and hang out to sample some of what us Southern Colorado folks enjoy... give a holler, eh?

I live in Canon City. I climb at Shelf Road about 3-4 times a week... usually solo. If you want to climb, let me know

I was also wondering if anyone knows where I could do some quality bouldering and crack climbing around Canon City. Where and what is the Little Owl?

FWIW, Little Owl is on private property. I used to live very close to it, and John Gill was kind enough to take me there once -- mostly to watch in awe as he bouldered in the most graceful, flowing style I've ever had the priviledge to watch. (He had permission from the owner to climb there.)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
