Does anyone know if there is still snow at the City of Rocks? If so, when there wont be?

Talked to someone up there yesterday. Yes, still snowy. Quite, in fact.

Well...when the nightly temp's start getting above freezing would be a nice start...

Forecast below, so, not any time soon.

Usually, you can climb in the City, most years, around mid May or so at the least, with an understanding it could still snow up there. I've seen it snow most every month in the summer for instance.

And, really, if you can tolerate the nightly lows, most any face that sees the sun for awhile will dry out and be climbable, no matter what time of year.

Call the City and ask them. Also the Castle Rock access should be good this time of year. Lower elevation and I would imagine they plow it year round.

This is another handy resource:

What I do is try to find a camera at a similar elevation and latitude. Or, one that is close by.

Cheers.

There this weekend-snow at every crag and alot on the trail to Flaming Rock and Bummbie Rock but none on at base. The road was closed aabove Bath Rock. Castle Creek was great we were told. Enjoy.
