Best place to BBQ

My friends and I had a BBQ on top of the Intersection Rock at JTree, and I'm thinking about doing something similar in the Front Range. Castle Rock comes to mind, but it doesn't really have the view or exposure. The Maiden is too much of a hike. Any ideas?

The 1st Flatiron would be sweet -but there's probably a law against it somewhere ~(-:

I've heard of people hauling a cooler of beer and a watermelon up to the top of the Maiden for 4th of July fireworks (many years ago before the current OSMP Gestapo). I understand it took so long that they missed the fireworks completely and spent a very cold night up there.

You know what might be the ultimate group climber bbq? Devil's Tower.

Sorry to rain on the party, but you may have to pre-cook them burgers and dogs for the top of the Thrid Flatrion! No fires allowed in Boulder Open Space. BOSMP are super-paranoid about this due to the fire danger. Charcoal grills, even camping stoves are not allowed according to the regs

One time an open space fire was started by a model rocket, and you'll notice these are now specifically mentioned as prohibited.

You could have a BBQ up on Flagstaff where there are quite a few grills/ fire pits (one only 50 ft from the Monkey Traverse). You can also do a BBQ in the Eldo picnic area ...

Self-contained fires MIGHT be different- like one of those little hibachi-type gas grills. It occurs to me that you could probably get on up hte back side of the bastille and serve burgers up there...
And you'd have an endless procession of people to feed.

Yeah Mark ~ how 'bout top of Castleton, the register said folks hauled it up along with a cooler o'beer. We were skeptical till we inquired amongst the locals that t'was true. Now that would be a PARTY...!!!

back to the front range ~hmm BBQ perigrins on 1st Flat, I think you meant the 3rd. Yep, George found it...no fires in Bouldr.Open Space --- darn...

The Bastile would be a nice view ~

Isn't that the truth. I'll setup across the canyon and get the Rewritten crowd. We'll serve more burgers in the afternoon than Mickie Dees.

We can BBQ peregrines on top of the Naked Edge as well.

Top of the Bastille is the easiest, sure to get a crowd. You can walk all the equipment up the access ramp.

A picnic on top of the Maiden would be awesome, but it is a long hike to get up there.

What if we put together all the supplies, pre-cook the hot dogs and hamburgers, and put them in an (warmer)cooler. I'd help haul/pack stuff to the top of the first. It'd be so sweet! I'll pitch in beer too.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
