Boulder Beer Night, May 31?

Hey Boulder folks, I am going to continue the trend of suggesting a beer get-together in a place where I do not live (like I did at Red Rocks last month). I will be in town for a wedding reception, and time is tight, but is there any interest in a Boulder Beer get-together on May 31? My friend Ed and I arrive in Denver at around 4:30 PM and could be in Boulder at around 6-6:30 to meet up. I would suggest the Southern Sun on Broadway, just next to Neptune Mountaineering. Sunday June 3 might work too, but May 31 is much preferred.

I'd be in for 5/31. I can't go until the sun goes down though. Not because I melt but because I climb till dark. :-)

Cool...I love the Mountain/Southern Sun. They have a contest for homebrewers that I am entering in August. If they choose my beer, they will brew it! I look forward to meeting both of you...hopefully we will have a good crowd that night. The 31st is also the night before my 41st birthday. :)

Tracy...I thought you turned into a bright orange pumpkin after dark? Or is it a vampiress? ;)

Ed and I will probably be climbing the First Flatiron on Friday the 1st, at Eldo on Saturday (easier routes like Wind Ridge) and one of the Ptarmigan Fingers or some other suitable snow route on Sunday. If any other groups want to join us, the more the merrier!

May 31st, I should be able to make it. Thanks for suggesting it. Great idea. I'll bring some Mp.com bumper stickers...

Mountain Project Beer Night!
Can one of the administrators get this posted on the events schedule and we can turn it into a full on bar takeover social event to meet everyone you chat with or flamed on the site?
Mike?

It's up as an event right now. Let me know if it needs any more beta?

I watch the forums, but don't reply too much...

Regardless, I just moved to B-town in December so I'll see if I can't ride my bike over and stop in to find you guys.

Wouldn't mind meeting some folks from the site and maybe a new partner or two from around the area anyways.

Best Regards
-Scott

I'll try to make it. So bring your rotten tomatoes and eggs, Oh, and glasses/contacts. I'm not a big target.
Ditto on the after dark thing- until then I'll be climbing.

The S. Sun gets sure crowded though. Would the Dark Horse be better? I can manage a 30% discount there for everything as well...

Tony,

I've never been the the Dark Horse, but the 30% off sounds great. Can you swing that discount at Neptunes for us as well?

Cheers

John

Wow, the power of suggestion! I'm looking forward to it. I wish I could bring homebrew this time around.

Tony, I'm partial to the Southern Sun (more room than the Mountain Sun) mainly because of the quality of the beer, and the "feel" of it. Yep, it'll be busy, but if there is enough interest to have it at another venue, then that's okay. Also, I'll break off a piece of Corbin Sandstone from the Red this weekend and bring it along for you. :)

Hmmmmmm, perhaps. How izzit you get the Dark Horse discount, anyway? Pretty cool deal.

Back when I was in school, a sister bar to the D.H. used to have a contest called the beer hunter. You'd sit across the table from your opponent, ala the Russian roulette scene from "Deer Hunter", and pick 1 of 6 cans of beer to be opened next to your head. One can had been subjected to hot water and shaken; ready to blow. If you made it through 4 or 5 rounds, you'd get a 100 Armory Bucks; enough to eat and drink for a week.

We've all been to climber's parties. It will be easy to find this crowd: simply look around for a group of people pantomiming climbing moves. Its a riot.

I'll second the Dark H. Tony, Don't they have 3.95 Burger Specials..??

VIP at the Sun = ok, or a long wait on a Sat eve. Maybe Tracy can flash her Pumkin'O-face...(:

Hold on, did someone say: "Beer!"?

Jim Matt · · Cincinnati, OH · Joined Sep 2003 · Points: 255

No, we're just thinking it! I am thirsty now...and I am down to about 5 gallons of homebrew at home. :(

I guess I will climb Saturday and brew Sunday!!

Very new to the forum here, relatively new to climbing as well, but I'd really like to meet some folks to hang out with.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
