Photo of the Moment

Is there a method to the madness that seems to be the photo of the moment or is it just chosen at random from the 17,000 photos out there?

I believe it's been narrowed down to photos that have recieved a "Great" rating.

It is drawn from photos that have been:

  • Rated great by users
  • Never rated average or poor
  • Not in personal albums
  • Not BETA photos

So not totally random :)

somewhat related second question...is there a way to post photos to both personal and route areas of the site without uploading and saving it twice? It would be cool if I could just tag the same photo more than once for different parts of the site (eg. I had to save a chrimson chrysalis photo to the site twice, once for personal, once for route).

I have wondered that myself. An "Apply this photo to another route or area" option would be pretty handy for beta photos.

Ian -

Administrators have always had this ability. See:

I've just been leary to open that up to the public for fear of rampant "linked" images popping up like weeds!

Maybe I'm just paranoid?

I just feel guilty uploading 3-5Mb photos more than once. I really like the fact that a relatively high resolution is maintained here, and for that reason I use your site to store the photos I get critiqued on rc.com's photographer's forum (not the rating area...the critique forum is one of the few things I like about that site). It would just be nice to tag some of those photos over to route areas as well, but I see where you are coming from.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
