When I first started leading I went to the Golden cliffs and did routes like Kevin spies the Line and Honey I shrunk the Hemroids. They're both cool easy climbs that keep your attention when your new. This ain't Naturita Pilgrim is a good one, but in the 5.8 range and last time I climbed it some of the holds that used to be sharp, cool, fun, holds are very polished, so be careful because they are slippery. ; ) Have fun!

There is a guidebook to Front Range Topropes (I don't own), but it may be examined in the wonderful American Alpine Club Library (for free) in the basement of the old high school on 10th St, just E of Washington. By the way, this is an excellent source of information for climbers for guidebooks for wherever you want to visit. AAC & CMC members can check out books. Nonetheless, you can TR routes (carefully) in the Golden area in addition to many climbs at N. Table Mt (aka Golden Cliffs) at Lookout Mt crag 5.7-5.10a, off the some of the cliffs at High Wire (E side Tunnel 2) Clear Creek Canyon) 5.8-5.9, if you lead the 5.7 on River Wall you can TR 5.9-5.10s.

I noted the key phrase "toprope" there, many of Table's anchors have a risk factor of one sort or another if you scramble up to the top to set up a rope. As a beginner, you must be extra careful in analyzing the risk of either falling off or knocking any of the abundant rocks up there down onto others. Also, if you TR too much you'll become a big hen like me. Learn to lead.

Lookout Mtn is west of Golden Cliffs and is home to a small crag great for beginers to top rope. I belive this site has some info on it. You'll also need some longer runners to reduce rope drag. Good Luck

Thankyou very much for the replies. I am at the Top rope Phase meening' those were my first two Climbs ever. I hope to progress soon and start doing some Sport Climbing? as I fitted myself for this endeavor. I will try and locate this "Top Rope guide for the front range". I heard about Lookout Crag and drove up there. From the rode, scouted it but did not climb any as I was alone. I did notice that you have to laydown and reach over pretty far to get your quick draws and rope set on topropes at Golden Cliffs. I was hoping to find someone around Golden that is past the new phase, but still TR's that really wants to hit the climbing alot locally in the afternoons or weekends in good weather. Thanks Again :)
