Another nice feature of climbingboulder.com: the ability to display all the routes in an area in printer-friendly format.

MP.com could use a similar feature. It's great for printing out all the route info on a crag in a concise format.

Good idea - we'll probably wrap that into the table-of-contents idea you suggested a while back (different mode of course).

Question though, we have something similiar now... just curious if we need a "list all", or if the Route Finder is good enough.

You can use the "Route Finder" to display a list of routes that match your criteria within an area, and that DOES have a printer-friendly mode.

You can access the RF either through advanced search, the homepage, or on the top portion of the left sidebar on any area.

On cb.com, "All Routes on this Rock" showed the route descriptions, enlarged beta photos, small photos and comments for all the routes, not just a list of route names. These were in concise format, with no page headers or footers between each route description.

On MP.com, "All Routes on this Rock" should show route descriptions and comments in concise, printer-friendly format, without page headers or footers between each route (multiple routes per page). Photos should be omitted since they are hard to see unless enlarged. It would be nice to have the option of including or omitting comments. Some routes have voluminous comments sections that add little to the route info.

A Table of Contents (or Route Finder list) should be printed out first as a cover sheet for the route listings.

It'd be very useful to have a feature to print all routes for a specific area. Only printing the route names makes them hard to find.

This is a good idea. Many of the climbing areas in the Upper Peninsula do not have cell service and it would be nice for folks to be able to print.

If you don't have cell service, does this mean you have a cell phone? Then you may be able to install the MP app. It allows offline viewing of routes.

+1 The App is certainly useful. The problem in very cold spots, like Lake Superior, is iPhones and -20 degrees do not play well together. Not sure if all cellphones are like this, but an iPhone goes from 100 to dead fast when exposed to freezing air. It’s nice to have actual paper sometimes....

I have done a fair amount of climbing on Mt Washington (NH) in the winter and it can get _very_ cold there. Keeping the phone inside your layers close to your body makes a big difference. My battery usually lasted fine, but then I was not continuously browsing routes. More of a get the phone up, take a picture and put it back.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
