Description Suggest change

This area describes climbs in the vicinity of the Wetterhorn Basin trailhead and beyond, generally up-valley from the Courthouse trailhead area climbs. In a good season there's a bunch of ice, though not much of significance, and most climbs won't be worth the approach once the road becomes impassable.

Getting There Suggest change

Approach as for the Courthouse Mountain trailhead and Precipice Amphitheater West, but continue up the main road. Soon it changes from graded 2WD to rocky, high-clearance 4WD. A few of the hills get pretty icy in early November. 1 mile past the Courthouse trailhead there is a creek crossing with a short, steep embankment opposite that can pose a challenge to some vehicles depending on seasonal erosion and conditions. The Wetterhorn Basin trailhead is reached in 2/3 mile past the creek crossing. Driving season normally ends by the 3rd or last week of November.
