Description

A massive cave near Balos Beach on the Northwest corner of Crete. About 20 routes from 5.10 to 5.13, mostly 5.12- and up. If this was in Kalymnos there'd be 50 of your best friends here, but it's not so you'll probably have it to yourself.

Left side shade all day, right side shade afternoon.

The road is a dirt road and a touch rocky. We were fine in a typical small euro car going slow but something with beefier tires would be nice peace of mind.

Lots of corroded biners and quick links on the anchors or as bail biners. Bring some hardware you won't be upset leaving. Having a way to remove the junk would be a nice quality of life improvement if you're going to spend a good amount of time down there.

Getting There

Fly to Chania, rent a car, and drive towards Balos Beach. Entry fee is one euro per person cash only. Park at the pin near the triangle sign and bush wack it down hill towards the ocean. About 200' above the ocean trend skiers left, walk along the coast to the cave.
