Description Suggest change

Moderate single-pitch sport climbs on a shield of high quality limestone. Belay in a pleasant secluded alcove 250’ above the road.

While it’s possible to access the routes from above to set up top ropes, doing so is generally not advised. Leading first is recommended.

The lines have been equipped to protect a climber at the respective grades, so expect a safe and mellow experience.

The stone is a beautiful pale limestone that is generally high quality. At certain sun angles, the wall almost looks to be glowing; hence, the name, as Sirius is the brightest star in the sky.

A series of wide chert bands bisect the shield. Each transition from limestone to chert and back again creates a nice variety of movement.

Bring a stick clip for the routes on the right.

At present, Black Gives Way to Blue is a closed project. Please don’t get on it until the developers open it. All other routes are open.

Getting There Suggest change

Approaching from Shelley/Idaho Falls, drive into the canyon and arrive at the Sky Wall (500’ buttresses about a half mile from entrance to canyon). Park directly across the road on the right (south) side.

Walk back down the road (west) about 50 yards where you’ll see a faint climber’s trail. The Sirius Wall is visible from the road.

Left of the soaring Sky Wall, roughly 250’ above the road, look for a panel of gleaming pale stone amid a sea of choss. The characteristic chert bands will be obvious.

Head up the shallow gully, trending leftward for a bit before moving back right. This portion should be somewhat intuitive. Follow the line of easiest passage. It’s somewhat steep, but it’s not technical. If you’re on 4th class terrain, you took the wrong path.
