Llauset Climbing

The Llauset area sits at the head of the Vall de Barravés, right below the Embassament de Llauset and the trailhead to Vallibierna and the Cap de Llauset refuge. At around 2,100 m altitude, it’s a true high-mountain environment with spectacular alpine views.

The climbing is on granite, solid and compact, with routes that are generally long and alpine in character. You’ll find clean slabs, cracks, dihedrals, and ridges — usually well-protected at the belays but requiring some gear and route-finding between bolts. Most routes are in the 200–400 m range, and the setting makes them feel even bigger.

Because of the altitude, the season runs from late spring to early autumn. In summer it’s a perfect escape from the heat, but weather can change fast, and afternoon storms are common.
