Description

This is a four-tier tower that is directly upslope from the start of the concrete barriers at the 35mph curve. Three of the four levels have walkoffs. A small cairn is on the trail. Watch for rattlesnakes in the rocks not far above the cairn.

First Tier: Walk off left.

Second Tier: Ascent/descent is via a couple of bouldering moves accessed from the left gully. There is a large (5’ wide) block set back from the cliff edge about 10 feet with two bolts to facilitate belaying. Due to the position it is not really suitable for rappelling. You could toprope using these anchors with some long (10 feet or so) cord. Descent is at the backside of the tier at climber’s left, a two-move downclimb (very easy).

Third Tier: Access from the gully on the right side of the tower. There is a large two-trunked mountain mahogany tree that can be used for an anchor. Lots of loose blocks there, be aware.

Fourth Tier: To access the top, The Troll must be led, there is no easy access. Descent is to rappel from the station.
