Shangri La Rock Climbing

A somewhat short, south-facing tuff sport-climbing spot with a dozen or so climbs partway up Los Alamos Canyon. It's about half way to the reservoir on the north side. This cliff was mostly forgotten about for quite a few years for various reasons related to the Cerro Grande fire but a few local climbers started going more the last few years.  Local climbing legend Shibli did most of these in the early 90s. There are 2 tiers, with most climbs on the Lower Buttress. The Upper Tower has 3(?) climbs that go to the top of a pinnacle, and some other short climbs nearby and uphill of the tower.  I have no idea when the tower was first climbed -- there was some pretty old stuff on its bolt ladder and the webbing on the slung horn on top disintegrated in my hand.

The guidebook said all sport climbs were missing hangers, but most climbs had these replaced in recent years.  I wanted to post the area so people can see which ones are leadable.

The rock is not as good as White Rock.  Some climbs are crumbly, some aren't.  Generally, it seems better quality than most of the tuff forming the other canyons near Los Alamos.
