Description Suggest change

Named after the funky critters that dig holes in the hillside around it, this crag is also a funky little critter. It's a convenient 35 minutes from Vancouver and provides some more unique rock for the area. There is no poison oak, the rock dries quickly and it's shady and cool on hot days. It's a small cliff band, about 50' at it's tallest with enough routes for a good day in a pretty setting. The rock is highly textured, a nice contrast to the smooth walls of Broughton and Ozone. Climbs tend to do a mix of face and crack climbing, so you will want some gear on most lines. While the wider sections tend to be low down and fairly easy, a large piece or two (#4 and/or #5) are nice to have for some routes

All established routes are equipped with chain anchors.

The area is within state forest and gets attention from hunters. A bit of bright colors/blaze orange wouldn't be a bad idea in the fall.

Unfortunately, people like to dump trash along the forest road and at the parking. Please do not contribute to the mess.

Getting There Suggest change

From Vancouver, take 14 to Washougal and go left at the roundabout for Washougal river road. Drive 11 miles, taking a slight left to go up the hill onto Labarre rd. Follow Labarre for 2.5 miles to a school bus turnaround at the end of the pavement. Go straight into onto the forest road, taking the first left turn onto a rougher track for 1/4 mile. You will want slightly more ground clearance than your typical sedan for this section, but a Subaru will do fine. The parking (45.63831488868589, -122.18082133531708) is a small clearing recognizable by the remains of a torn up 4Runner and has room for two vehicles side by side. Please do not block the road when you park.

The approach takes less than 10 minutes and starts from the back of the parking spot, heading right of the road on a worn trail and eventually down a steep hill to the base of the cliff 45.63831488868589, -122.18082133531708
