Description
The Sphinx is a granitic summit rising out of the Sphinx Glacier in Garibaldi Park. It is seen by thousands of tourists and hikers every year who venture up Panorama Ridge or The Black Tusk, but climbed by few. The rock quality is good, like many peaks in the park.
Getting There
Access is typically via hiking across the Sphinx Glacier from the Castle Towers approach, or by those with packrafts, by paddling across the lake, landing in Sphinx Bay, and ascending from there. When there is snow coverage, and the lake is frozen, ski access is possible the same way, or as part of larger and more rugged traverses.
