Yosemite National Park has yearly closures for Peregrine Falcon Protection March 1- July 15. Always check the NPS website at nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/… for the most current details and park alerts, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive. This page also shares closures and warnings due to current fires, smoke, etc.
Description
A low-angle crag with easy, ~400 foot routes on generally sound rock (stick to the orange rock). It's a nice add-on to a trip to Hoffmann's Thumb or a low commitment option in the event of impending thunderstorms. The grey slabs at the south-west end are generally sound and provide for an easy ~200' romp, class 2 on the left to easy 5th class on the right; from the top of the slabs, one can easily scramble left to the hiking trail. The south to north traverse scramble is a worthy diversion from the dusty hiking trail. The Secor guide notes that there is a 1974 VClevenger & VWallblom route "somewhere on this face." The photos show some somewheres that have been climbed/scrambled on this formation.
Descend by scrambling, either the gully at the south-west end or gullies/the ridge line at the north-east end. From the north-east end, it is possible to descend scree on the either the east or west of the formation or traverse west to the hiking trail.
