THE RIVER CAN BE DANGEROUS TO CROSS DURING HIGH RUNOFF! See the approach for details...

The Elements is Mt. Shasta's new hardman sport crag, sitting just across the street from Ney Springs. The rock is very different however. The first routes were developed many years ago. This crag hid under moss for a long time until Jake Reginato put in some time with a drill & brush to revive the area. Bring a stick clip, stoke, and some crimp strength... small holds & slight overhangs are the name of the game here.

Getting There Suggest change

Low runoff (summer/fall typically): 5-10 minutes. Park as for Ney Springs. Walk up the road towards Faery Falls, passing the old remains of the Ney Springs resort and a road heading uphill on your right. Cross the creek when a large boulder on the other side comes into view (see photo in the area photos below). Climb up the hill to the left of the boulder and past a 30’ boulder/mossy cliff (the Lower Elements). The crag is directly above the cliff.

High runoff (spring): 20 minutes. Rather than head right up the 4x4 road to Ney Springs, take a left at the large parking area. Drive a few hundred yards to some parking spots at a gate/bridge. Cross the bridge to the other side of the river & then immediately head right, traversing upstream along the river. Follow an old road that parallels the river, passing a few drainages. Walk for about 15 minutes. When the road heads uphill/turns into a talus field, head up a 100’ and then traverse off the right side and then cross a drainage. The crag will then be right in front of you.
