Georgia Climbing

Wonderful little EU candidate country in the Caucusus with some of the best hospitality on the planet, in addition to some great alpine and sport climbing.  The consensus is that part of Georgia is in Asia and part is in Europe, but with EU candidacy, it belongs in the Europe section.

There is great sport and mountaineering in Georgia.  There are lots of featured limestone bolted sport routes of all grades at Chiatura and Katskhi. There's also climbing in the capital, Tbilisi.

There is also good mountaineering in Georgia.  For example, Mount Kazbek, is one of the more beautiful mountains out there, and pretty accessible.  Pictures and info here:

Really nice community of climbers there who can help you figure things out.  I lived there for two years and climbed with Guga and the crew there pretty much every weekend.  Hope you make it there and have as much fun as I did.
