Description
This area is truly a beautiful place to climb. The 80 foot waterfall blast cool air into the canyon and even during the peak of summer great climbing can be found (best summer crag in the area). The months of May ~ October the trees are full of leaves which creates shade all throughout the day. During November ~ April the trees lose all their leaves and allows the sun to shine through on those cold winter days. Routes range from 5.6 ~ 5.13. A secluded paradise!
Getting There
READ!!!! READ!!!! READ!!!!!
To access the Dog House Ledge or The Secret Passage will require you to climb up the slope (class 4) on the right side of the alcove. It has a few bolts to protect it if one doesn't feel confident in doing it solo. After there is a via ferrata chain that protects you to gain access further in. Accessing/leaving these areas will requires basic fundamentals of rappelling. Wear your harness, PAS (or sling to attach to the via ferrata) and belay/rappel device. This will help you safely traverse the ledge and rappel in and out of the canyon. This is a serious approach and should not be taken lightly!
Best Practice: First person climbs up with their rope and clips it to the chains at the top to provide easer passage for those coming behind. Last person pulls the rope up and continues in. Rappel to leave!!!
