[IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA]
Is closed from 0.2 mi east of Angelus Oaks /at Mill Creek Rd/ to 4.6 mi east of Angelus Oaks /at Hill Ranch Rd/ (San Bernardino Co) - Due to mudslide - Motorists are advised to use an alternate route
Description
A beautiful slot canyon nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains. Waterfalls scattered all throughout and plenty of trees for shade makes this a summer sport crag destination. The area hosts climbs on both sides of the canyon and climbing is great all year round. Access to the areas deeper in the canyon will involve a little class 4 scrambling but will be well worth it.
- An accurate depiction of the weather would be to look up the city of Mentone and decrease the temperature between 3-5 degrees.
- If going to The Dog House Ledge or The Secret Passage please read the info on how to approach these locations.
- Please know basic rappelling techniques!!!!!!!!
Getting There
Take Highway 38 and just before the sharp bend that takes you to Frustration Creek continue straight onto Valley of the Falls Drive; a 1/4 mile further there is a dirt pull off on the right side of the road.
Back track a little and cross the road to access the approach trail.
A 5 minute hike leads to a talus field. Delicately navigate through until you reach the base of the canyon.
If you don't stop and stare at the highly developed bouldering (Monkey Balls) along the way it should take you about 15 minutes.
