Description
Area is sunny during the summer, but there is snow / wind / rain in the other seasons. Rock is a cemented conglomerate of rocks and minerals, so be sure to watch out for misleading holds. Area is very unpopulated, but only 20-40 minutes from the City of Milford. Road to access the climb is easy to drive, should be suitable in a compact SUV, full size SUV, or truck. Recommend against sedans just given the small rocks (damage to the vehicle) and sand (can lead to sliding). No access fees or legal access issues.
Getting There
Head East of our Milford to the Rock Corral Recreation Site (you will need to be on Highway 21). Turn left onto 1440 S. Turn right onto E Pass Road (this will come after the first curve on 1440 S). Take the fifth left onto Upper Ranch Canyon Road (at this intersection you will have a slight left - 45 degree angle - or the option to drive straight, take the slight left). At the intersection of Rock Corral Rd and Upper Ranch Canyon Road (it will be the next right and there is a sign), continue straight. Continue on this road until you reach the Big Rock Campground on the left (10-20 minute drive). Park at this location (should see tables, horseshoe game areas, and, of course, a big rock).
