Description
Join the Carolina Climbers Coalition as an annual member at carolinaclimbers.org/join. CCC and Conserving Carolina opened this area to climbing in 2019, and dedicated to area conservationist John Myers.
Nice area in summer and fall for rock or winter for ice. The rock routes are mostly 100-200 foot routes that are positive angled, with nice face climbing and water sculpted edges. Rock is WET OFTEN so a dry season is a must. There are many beginner friendly leads IF they are dry. For ice climbers, ice forms very consistently, and is often climbable when other ice formations throughout the state are not. (Excerpt from Rumbling Bald Guide Book)
Getting There
Approach: 30 minutes. Cross street and hike the Wildcat Rock Trail just over a mile to Little Bearwallow Falls. This is the main climbing area. Other rock areas or ice routes are either left or right of the falls. Note Wildcat Trail has received national trailbuilding awards for its layout, craftmanship, and access to natural wonders.
