Description
Getting There
The best access is via the North Henson Road (CR 24), which branches off the Henson Road (CR 20) west of Lake City. In the winter, the road is closed far down at Nellie Creek. If the snow is deep on CR 24, it's probably not a good idea to climb here anyway.
From the junction with CR 20, travel 4.2 miles on the N. Henson Road to the switchback. Park here and hike up the switchback to the gate. Signs along the road paint a picture of the local drama over a private residence occupying this particular slice of public land. Hike steeply up the hill before the gate, follow the fenceline to the back corner of the property, and continue west along the old road bed/trail. Hike over the pass to the west, then descend to Cow Creek and follow it down to the climbs.
