Description
A beautiful valley in the Cordillera Real range of Bolivia. It sits at about 14,500 feet and is prime for bouldering, sport, and trad climbing FAs. There are about 10 sport routes in the valley and about 20 boulder problems developed here with potential for about 500 sport, 500 trad, and 300 boulder problems. Bolivia's strongest climber, Juanga, developed these routes about 15 years ago, and one other climbing group visited the area in 2022 establishing a dozen more boulders. Surface barely scratched. You want to get some FA's on quality high altitude granite? This is the spot. Disclaimer: Bring wire brushes for the moss.
The valley also has a refuge hut that you can stay in for about $12 USD per night. Sergio's family lives there, runs it and will cook you some delicious food as well! Shoot my MP acct (Justin Sackett) a message if you want his number to book it.
Contact Dani, the owner of the bouldering gym in La Paz (Gym name: La Cueva Boulder) for the guidebook. That being said, this area is most attractive for FA's, as there are very few established routes.
