Up Rising Wall

This area has only a handful of routes but the quality of some of them makes it a must do destination. The rock is hard sandstone. With some dirt that would clean up with traffic. A standout feature of this rock is brilliant colors and an approach from the Forest Service road that could be measured in seconds not minutes.

Up Rising Wall

From “Ross’ Groc” (closed general store) take Big Woods Rd which turns into FS 1074. Travel about 3.5 miles from Ross’ to reach the little parking area on the left. The FS gate on 1074 at the bottom of the hill from Ross’ is closed most of the year. It is usually (but not always) open in the Fall. From this gate it is 2.8 miles to the wall. As of 19 October 2024 the gate is open .
You will know you are close when the road forks. The right fork goes up a little hill and dead ends. The right fork is marked 1074B. Go left to reach the little parking area on the left side of the road near the sport routes. The parking may be over grown. The GPS location is for the little parking area.
