Yosemite National Park has yearly closures for Peregrine Falcon Protection March 1- July 15. Always check the NPS website at nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/… for the most current details and park alerts, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive. This page also shares closures and warnings due to current fires, smoke, etc.

"Climbing in Hetch Hetchy requires climbers to think more logistics than the siege tactics. Climbers must deal with - gate hours (post 9/11), access, poison oak, intense heat, slogging 3 miles with pigs to base camp(s), raptor closures, base camp bears, you're in the back country and if you're injured YOUR ON YOUR OWN till YOSAR can respond.
WATER! WATER! everywhere but not a drop to drink... Once we decided on the project and got gear in place, water was next. Water shuttling from waterfall to base is a sufferfest. Wapama Falls dries up around Sept.. I recomend doing h2o shuttling at night. HEAT is excruciating from 9am to sunset. Considering 2 routes on this wall are a reference to light and heat. In my opionion the best time to climb the fjord is winter (nov to march).
Also something to note. Since ive spent over 12 years establishing routes in this area i feel this statement rings true...
THE RESERVOIR HAS SAVED THIS TEMPLE OF THE SIERRA! I hope they never drain it. That body of water has kept park concessions from destroying this part of Yosemite. No hotels, garbage trucks, motorcycles, buses, people, trash, TRAFFIC etc. While climbing on these walls i was living John Muirs dream. A true high Sierra back country experience. When you're in Hetch Hetchy you're away from the goat rodeo that is known as Yosemite Valley. All the people who think they should drain it, are people who never leave the comfort of the front country.
And to be honest, the reservoir is never going away.
