Description
Rock quality in the Bulkley Valley is notoriously bad! But, there are a couple pitches of decent rock in the Twin Falls area that are worth checking out if you are in the area.
Getting There
Park at the Twin Falls Rec Site west of Smithers. Grab your packs and extension ladder, and head up the tourist “hiking” trail, going towards the viewing platform (5 mins). Immediately after passing the viewing platform head to your right and do a short bushwhack down to the creek, you should be right across from where the drainage from the right-hand falls meets the main creek formed from the left-hand falls, which are much higher volume. There is a large boulder in the middle of the creek which has a nice 10cm or so ledge on it about 2/3 of the way up it. Use this ledge to prop your ladder against across the creek, and with each party member stabilizing the ladder for the others, cross the ladder onto the boulder. Leave the ladder in place because you will not be able to reset it properly from the other side. The ladder is optional but be prepared to get quite wet if you skip it ;) From here walk easily up the creek bed for the right-hand falls to the wall (5-10 mins)
