Access Issue: RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek
Details
WET ROCK: Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN MOAB during or after rain.
RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
Getting There
Walk away from Green R. overlook to the old boneyard road/gate leaving pavement about .2 miles NW of the parking. Shun the ranger questions: “where are you comin’ from?”, “whatchya climbin’?” with a furtive “sex stuff” response and walk out past the end of the road to the furthest reach of walkable Kayenta aligned with the parent ridge to Candlestick Tower. You will need to spend some time negotiating/descending the Kayenta to reach the ledges from which you might walk and boulder to the WSW-most end of the Navajo. There is a chimney with a short pedestal. This is your route.
