Description
Extinction Wall is the large, dark, north-eastern facing wall located above camp on the western end of the valley. Don't expect much sunshine when climbing here. It is also one of the wettest walls in the valley due to a large glacier still sitting atop the wall. Depending on where you are climbing, the glacier above could pose a serious overhead hazard.
Getting There
The approach has taken two different forms in our two trips into Pangea. The first form, encountered in 2019 was a nice romp up the slabs from camp and across the creek near the base of the wall. Straightforward. Its second form, encountered in 2021, was over a large, steep snowfield complete with its own crevasses and seracs.
