Description

Low Hanging Fruit Wall is a great, North-facing wall that is characterized by gently overhanging/vertical routes on quality metamorphic limestone.

The wall doesn't seem to receive too much traffic and unfortunately has a runoff/drip patter in the wetter months that can leave some routes a tad dirty if they haven't been climbed in a while. There is also a river crossing that needs to be negotiated upon travelling to the cliff.

Despite the obvious detractions above, this wall makes for a great day in a gorgeous area with an almost guaranteed chance that you'll have the crag to yourself.

Getting There

From FR 314.1 (Crystal River Road), drive past the parking area for Lizard Lake, and descend downhill until you come to parallel height with the river.

Locate any suitable pulloff to the right.

Utilize the trail data attached.

In the vicinity of 39.066930460336216, -107.14821223818387, there should be a small cairn across the river.

Find a suitable way to cross the river, and locate the small game trail heading uphill on loose soil for about 100 feet or so. From here, you will intersect a traversing trail to your right (Southwest in direction). Follow this trail uphill, negotiating some steep switchbacks and eventually a fixed hand line that will lead you to the base of the cliff.
