Description
Druid Stones is the name given to a collection of decent boulders that sit tucked away in an old growth forest on the hillside not far from Marys Peak Summit. Their initial development is shrouded in mystery, but an old homemade guidebook serves as the best beta and documentation of previous lines, if you're unable to track down the ancient guidebook there is a rather brief listing of this area in "Portland Bouldering."
Like most PNW boulders the moss grows quickly here, so be prepared to scrub a line or two on your outings here.
The best approach is from the meadow, park near the large lone tree, look back uphill and to the right, walk through faint meadow trails to the south slope. Once you’re in the old growth proper it’s pretty straight forward to find the boulders. Once you’ve found one of decent size it’s easy to orient yourself to the area.
This area has generally been regarded as a beginners bouldering area although potential for harder lines certainly exists.
