Description Suggest change

This is an area up the Rocky Head trail with a few decent boulders. The Black Gate boulder is probably the best developed boulder in Montreat as of right now but further development is needed. Please be aware that this is on the privately owned Montreat Conference Center land. Practice LNT and follow area guidelines. There is potential for more lines here but be aware that the rock quality on many of these boulders is questionable at best, so use caution when exploring.

Getting There Suggest change

Park as for the site 22 boulder. Take the rocky head trail, which starts from the Montreat campground adjacent to site 22, up about 25 minutes. The first climbable and obvious boulder on the left side of the trail is the Black Gate boulder. This boulder has most of area's problems on it, but more boulders can be found by continuing up trail.
