Description Suggest change

Aracnofobia is one of the most easily accessible areas on La Barrosa and has a variety of high-quality roof problems of almost every grade, tucked away in the quiet forest. It is the home to La Barrosa's first V10 boulder problem, Aracnofobia (originally rated V9) climbed by Sisi in the early 2000s. The name of the area comes from the local brand of tarantulas who sometimes hide out in the finger jam on the boulder Aracnofobia.

Getting There Suggest change

Park at the gate (la tranquera) at the end of Calle 95 and walk uphill on the dirt track a couple of hundred meters till it crests out. Follow the track downhill for about 100 meters passing a sign on the right until the trail levels out and goes slightly uphill. Look for a trail branching uphill on the left when the track starts to go downhill again. Do not continue walking down the second (longer) downward slope. Follow the short trail about 70 meters straight uphill to reach the area. Note: as of 2021 the city has guaranteed access to this area and there is monitored parking inside the gate. However, access is limited to daylight hours and the gate is locked every evening.
