Description
Whale Fin Spire is the large spire immediately northeast of Buddha's Throne. There is currently only one route to the top of this formation, but there is also at least one abandoned project on it. This is currently the easternmost developed formation at Hills Creek Spires, but there are more rock formations with untapped potential just east of the Whale Fin Spire.
Getting There
Accessing the Whale Fin Spire requires a bit of bushwhacking. There is a gully that drops down just north of Buddha's Throne, but this route is quite dense and places you on the west side of the Whale Fin, rather than the north side where you want to be. Alternatively, there is a better gully that leads down to the north side, although it is difficult to find from the approach trail. It begins roughly due north of the Whale Fin Spire. Once at the base of the north face of the spire, there is a small saddle that leads to a single belay bolt at the start of No Spinners.
