pay the park entrance fee 25$ for the week.

Most of the climbing is on a north facing slope, and is in a basin. Don't expect much sun during the day, look out for spindrifts and avalanches.

Getting There Suggest change

The National park closes the road starting at lake McDonald in November and slowly opens back up around May, most of the season you'll have to hike in on the going to the sun road 6 miles until you reach avalanche lake campgrounds. take the avalanche lake trail 2 miles until you reach the lake then cross lake when its froze 1.5 miles until you reach the other end of the basin. in total its 11 hike in to climbs, 22 mile round trip approach. bring skins or snow shoes as the snow is most never packed and it isn't easy to access ( look out for ice on trail ).
