Description Suggest change

A small area with little information know about it at present time. Plenty of small, monzogranite boulders of fairly high quality rock litter the area. Although none of them, except one, really have striking lines. Like the Get Carter Boulder, the best climbs are always the ones closest to the road. The only climb of mention here is a striking, right-leaning offwidth highball, and is also the first boulder you see rising the crest of the road. Certainly enough to make you stop, gawk, and tape up your hands as quickly as possible. To the south there seem to be some interesting looking crags and possibly larger boulders. After a early morning of quick exploration, the large boulders--while somewhat promising--are in a sea of animal activity. I noticed ample tracks and fresh scat, including that of Mountain Lion! I recommend limiting any climbing development in this southerly formation as the possible climbs are not of incredible enough stature to merit impeding a highly active animal habitat. If anyone knows more of the history of this area, if any, please update the page as needed.

Getting There Suggest change

Follow directions for the Get Carter Boulder, but continue down the road as if you were going to the Pollen Grains. At the first intersection after the Get Carter Boulder, where one turns right to go towards the Pollen Grains, turn left instead. Stay right through two forks in the road until you come to crest a small hill where the road forks once more; right is marked a horse trail, and left turns into an ATV trail (GPS: 37.347610, -118.565068). Park here. The large offwidth crack should be immediately visible to your left. Venturing further down the left road becomes sketchy even in a car with 4 wheel drive, would not recommend. (The author remarks that if one should find themselves venturing down the ATV road and past the off-camber turn where it feels you might flip your 4Runner, just know it is not possible to turn around. But it is possible to back the car up the whole stretch of road with minor neck pain afterwards. A harrowing journey with a trunk full of pads blocking any visibility besides popping an elbow out of a rolled down window and cranking your neck in a 180 like your mother used to when backing into your home driveway.)
