Description
Calabasas Peak State Park is a scenic area with a popular trail that runs north from Stunt Road up to Calabasas Peak and down the north side to Mulholland. Many long fins of sandstone slant across the trail partway up the south side. Below the rock fins at a junction with a wooden bench, another trail branches down to Red Rock Canyon Park and continues down to Old Topanga.
Getting There
Park at the Calabasas Motorway Trailhead on the south side of Stunt Road at the big pullout before the hairpin turn. (34.0951, -118.6488) and walk up the wide popular Calabasas Peak Motorway/Trail for a mile. The rock fins will be along the right side of the trail. Easiest scramble up to base of Calabasas Slabs is up the rocky curb near a big rock, just before the trail rounds a turn to pass the west face of the rock fins. A faint scrambler's trail meanders up to the wall and beyond.
