Description
Roadside area home to a few good moderates and some harder lines and projects. The main boulder cluster is easy to find but it is a spread out zone and thus will require some poking around to find stuff. The entire area sits in the trees and is centered around the ~19,000 year old "Leavenworth-1" lateral glacial moraine that parallels much of Mtn. Home road as you drive up from town.
I recently had a revelation about the differences in rock quality/texture in the greater Mountain Home bouldering area. Because the boulders have been deposited as a result of several glacial pulses originating from the Icicle Creek canyon and it tributaries, the boulders found on Mtn. Home essentially represent rock from the entire Icicle canyon and Enchantments zone. This explains the subtle differences in feel and quality of the boulders as you move from sector to sector. In addition to this, the main Mtn. Home boulders (star wars etc.) were all thoroughly burned in 1994.

Getting There
About 2 minutes before reaching Geronimo, there will be a small intersection and parking area on the right, park here and head into the woods to start to see some bigger boulders. This area was logged/thinned in the spring of 2020 and is looking rough. The main cluster is about a 5 minute walk from the car, but outlying boulders are scattered around it by up to a few hundred yards.
